Havelock History
The modern day City of Havelock was originally named Havelock Station. It was named after Sir Henry Havelock, a British war hero of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The Atlantic and North Carolina railroad first entered the area in the late 1850s. The Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point was also established in the city in 1940. Havelock was officially incorporated in 1959.
