Barberton History
The area now known as Barberton was founded in the year 1891 by Ohio Columbus Barber, president of the Diamond Match Company. He built a magnificent estate and industrial farm on the east side of Barberton. In fact, the city is also named after him. Moreover, the beautiful Lake Anna, which lies in the center of Barberton City, was named after Barber's daughter. Barberton was incorporated in 1891.
