Bedford Heights, Ohio, in Cuyahoga county, is 10 miles E of Parma, Ohio (center to center) and 10 miles SE of Cleveland, Ohio. The city is in the Cleveland - Lorain - Elyria area. There are 11,375 residents in Bedford Heights.

Bedford Heights History

This area was originally part of the Western Reserve of Connecticut and was bought by the Connecticut Land Company in 1795. The first modern settler in this area was Elijah Noblers. He camped at Tinker’s Creek in 1813. The Bedford Township was established in April 1823 and it covered the area that now includes Bedford, Bedford Heights, Maple Heights, Walton Hills, and Oakwood Village. It was officially incorporated as a town in March 1837.
