Galion, Ohio, in Crawford county, is 54 miles N of Columbus, Ohio. The city is considered part of the Mansfield metropolitan area. Galion has a population of 11,341.
Galion History
The first settlers arrived in Galion sometime around 1817. One of the earlier names of this area was Greensburg. It had its first post office in 1824 and was given its present name at that time. The name was suggested by a postmaster and other suggested names could not be used because post offices by those names already existed in Ohio.
