Pryor Creek History
Pryor Creek was originally known as Coo-Y-Yah. The city is also referred to as Pryor. Nearly every building in the city was destroyed by an F4 tornado on April 27, 1942. It is the county seat of Mayes County, which was established on November 16, 1907.
