Newport, Rhode Island, in Newport county, is 15 miles S of Warwick, Rhode Island (center to center) and 61 miles S of Boston, Massachusetts. The city is included in the Providence - Fall River - Warwick metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 26,475 people lived in Newport.
