Bolivar History
Bolivar is the county seat of Hardeman County. The area was named in honor of Simon Bolivar, who was a revolutionary leader from South America. Early settlers came to Hardeman County in 1819 and 1820. Bolivar became the county seat of Hardeman County in 1825.
