Germantown, Tennessee, in Shelby county, is 14 miles E of Memphis, Tennessee. The city is considered part of the Memphis metropolitan area. Germantown has a population of 37,348.
Germantown History
Germantown is located in the Shelby County, the largest county in terms of population and geographic area in Tennessee. The city was founded in 1825. Germantown derived its name from the heritage of its early settlers, who were of German origin. It was officially incorporated in 1841.
