La Vergne, Tennessee, in Rutherford county, is 15 miles SE of Nashville, Tennessee. The city is included in the Nashville metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 18,687 people lived in La Vergne.
La Vergne History
The city of La Vergne is located in Rutherford County. The county was established from parts of Williamson, Davidson and Wilson counties in 1803. The county was named in honor of Griffith Rutherford, a Revolutionary War general and a colonial legislator from North Carolina. He had settled in Middle Tennessee and was also the president of the Council of the Territory of Tennessee before Tennessee became a state.

Parks like the Hurricane Creek Recreation Area, Poole Knobs Recreation Area and Willow Creek Vista Point and Picnic Area offer a host of facilities for recreation. Local churches include the Jefferson Pike Church, Saint Peters Church and First Baptist Church. The community also celebrates the Old Timer’s Day every September.
