Union City, Tennessee, in Obion county, is 57 miles N of Jackson, Tennessee and 104 miles NE of Memphis, Tennessee. As of the year 2000 census, 10,876 people lived in Union City.

Union City History

The city was named because of its location at the confluence of two railroads. General George Gibbs laid out Union City in 1854. Union City was the site of a minor battle in the Civil War in 1864. The city also has a Goodyear Tire Plant.
