A number of parks and recreational areas are based in the area surrounding Glenn Heights including Lake Tawakoni State Park, Dinosaur Valley State Park, Lake Whitney State Park, and Cleburne State Park. The 1,524-acre Dinosaur Valley State Park has provisions for biking, hiking, horseback riding, and camping. Several dinosaur tracks can also be seen at the park. Among the popular attractions near Glenn Heights are the Dallas Zoo, Southfork Ranch, and Fort Worth Botanical Garden. The Dallas World Aquarium has exhibits including the Orinoco - Secrets of the River rainforest display, Mundo Maya exhibit, and the South Africa exhibit, all of which display marine species of the world.
