Highland Village History
Highland Village was incorporated as a city in February 1963. The city experienced massive growth after the opening of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The early residents of Highland Village were mostly professionals from Dallas. Though a number of businesses developed in the area, Highland Village is primarily a residential city. It adopted a Home Rule Charter in 1986.
