Mount Pleasant History
Mount Pleasant was initially occupied by the Caddo Indians. It was first settled in the 1830s and became the county seat of the newly formed Titus County, in 1846, the main cash crops of the area were cotton and corn. The city also served as a confederate transportation depot during the Civil War. The first railroads arrived in Mount Pleasant in the 1870s. The city was incorporated on September 17, 1900. T. C. Hutchings became the first mayor of Mount Pleasant.
