Santa Fe, Texas, in Galveston county, is 19 miles W of Galveston, Texas (center to center) and 30 miles SE of Houston, Texas. There population of the city is 9,548.

Santa Fe History

The city of Santa Fe grew following the construction of the Santa Fe Railway in 1877. In 1978, residents voted to incorporate the city, and by the 1980's, Santa Fe had annexed the towns of Alta Loma and Arcadia. The area was named after the Santa Fe Independent School District which surrounds the area.

Things To Do In Santa Fe

Some of the parks near Santa Fe are Runge Park and Galveston Island State Park. Armand Bayou Nature Center, which offers opportunities for hiking and bird watching, also has live animal displays. Several museums not far from the city are Moody Mansion and Museum and the Texas Seaport Museum. Galveston County Fair is another popular event that people enjoy attending.
