Overview

Introduction to Hildale, Utah

Hildale is closely affiliated with Colorado City, Arizona. The majority of the residents of both towns are members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The towns attracted national attention in December of 2005, when the Phoenix New Times published an article that revealed that the community in the two towns actively practice polygamy. Evidently, this got revealed due to the discovery that residents there had an unusually high percentage of fumarase deficiency, a disease that develops from substantial inbreeding.
