Mapleton History

The city of Mapleton was initially an agricultural extension of the small Hobble Creek community, now known as Springville. The city was founded in 1850 and the area was then known as Union Bench. It was in the early 20th century that the Utah County began the organization of a town government in Mapleton. In 1948, Mapleton became a third - class city.
