Mountlake Terrace History
At the turn of the century, the area now known as Mountlake Terrace was named "Alderwood Manor." This was when the first settlements were established in this region. Soon it was a major lumber center. In the following years, the land was platted into ranches for growing chinchillas, mink, and poultry. Much of the region was later developed as housing complexes for veterans of World War II and Korean War. Mountlake Terrace was officially incorporated on November 30, 1954.
