Oak Hill History

Oak Hill is located in Fayette County, which was formed from parts of Kanawha, Greenbrier, Logan and Nicholas counties and was sanctioned by Virginia General Assembly’s act. The county was named in honor of Marquis de la Fayette. He had played a significant role at the time of the American Revolutionary War by assisting the Continental Army. A substantial part of Fayette County was subdivided to establish Raleigh County in the year 1850.
