Elkhorn, Wisconsin, in Walworth county, is 24 miles E of Janesville, Wisconsin and 41 miles SW of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The city’s population is 7,305.

Elkhorn History

Elkhorn was named by Colonel Samuel Phoenix in the early part of the nineteenth century. LeGrand Rockwell, Milo Bradley and his brother Daniel formed a village in the area. The first town meeting was held in 1846, in the same year it was designated as the county seat of Walworth County. The Walworth County Fair has been held in the area every year since 1851.

Things To Do In Elkhorn

Golfers can enjoy a round at the Lauderdale Lakes Country Club, the Evergreen Golf Club, East Course and the George Williams Golf Course. Local churches include the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saint John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church and Saint John’s Lutheran Church. The city hosts the Walworth County Fair every August and September, Oktoberfest every October and the Festival of the Summer every August.
