Overview of Academy of Hair Design
The Academy of Hair Design, founded in 1976, is a small institution targeting individuals seeking careers in cosmetology, nail esthetics, skin aesthetics, or cosmetology education. Located in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, the Academy prepares students to meet licensing standards for practicing professionals in the state of Pennsylvania and also to become familiar with the business side of the beauty industry, including management principles of salon operation and professional and ethical standards in the field.

Areas of Study
Certificate programs are offered in the fields of Cosmetology, Nail Esthetics, Skin Esthetics, and Cosmetology Instruction. The Cosmetology program prepares students to enter many areas of employment including salon stylist, hair colorist, permanent wave technician, facial makeup artist, nail technician and/or beauty industry rep. The objective of the Nail Esthetics (Nail Technician) program is to thoroughly train all students in the field of natural and artificial nail care. The Skin Esthetician program will provide thorough training to students in the field of skin care and makeup. The Cosmetology Instruction program will educate the student in required subjects for the State of Pennsylvania Instructor Exam and License. A Cosmetology Teacher License will be granted upon passing the State Board Examination.

The Academy has an open admissions policy. The enrollment process is straightforward and begins when the applicant contacts the school online.

Faculty members are qualified and experienced. Instructors are supplemented by guest speakers who are current professionals in the industry.
Academy of Hair Design Student Body
Students are highly motivated individuals seeking employment in the state of Pennsylvania as licensed entry-level graduates in the cosmetology industry. Present enrollment is slightly over 30 students.
Academy of Hair Design Student Life
The Academy is situated in the small suburban community of Hazelton, Pennsylvania, located in the eastern part of the state, about 25 miles south of Wilkes-Barre. A very small commuter school, the Academy does not offer student housing.
