Adelphi University is a private, nonsectarian university located in Garden City, in Nassau County, New York. A nationally accredited school, it is the oldest institution of higher education on Long Island. The Princeton Review (2005) listed Adelphi as one of the nation's best universities in the Northeast.
Adelphi offers degrees in arts, sciences, humanities, business, education, nursing and health maintenance, social welfare and clinical psychology. There are four main campuses of Adelphi University. They are:
The sports teams of AU are nicknamed the Adelphi Panthers. Adelphi athletes like Bob Beamon, Mel Pender and Dot Richardson have gone on to become Olympic medal winners.
Adelphi is found in Garden City, NY. Garden City is a large suburb. The school is a private, not-for-profit institution. Students can earn degrees up to and including the Doctoral degree at Adelphi.
