
Overview
Established in 1970, Akron Institute is part of the Herzing Educational System which operates over a dozen campuses in the US and Canada. Akron offers its students programs which lead to successful careers in the allied health, information technology, and administration fields. Herzing University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. In addition, the school's medical assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Programs are targeted to meet certification standards established by industry leaders, including the Ohio Dental Association and the American Association of Medical Assistants. Herzing University holds programmatic accreditation or approvals at selected locations in a variety of allied health programs.

Admissions
The Akron Institute admissions process is a simple one. All high school graduates and individuals who have successfully completed their GED (General Educational Development) tests are eligible for admission. Prospective students must take a school tour prior to enrollment and submit to an interview by an admissions representative. For some programs, a physical examination, lab test and/or vaccination will be required upon enrollment. An enrollment fee of $25.00 completes the process.
Faculty
The Akron faculty is comprised of caring and knowledgeable professionals who continually demonstrate their commitment to the success of their students. Their goal is to provide students with highly marketable skills in high demand career fields and to help ensure that the career objectives of all students are met.
Student Body
The student body is comprised of approximately 300 students, about 70% of which are in a full-time status. Female students comprise about 85% of the full-time student body, based on recent enrollment data.
Student Life
Akron Institute is a commuter campus located in Ohio. The City of Akron is within 30 miles of two major airports, making it is an ideal location for traveling students. The student experience is enhanced by the opportunity for all students to work with the Institute to build long-lasting relationships both during and after completion of programs.
