Overview of Alvernia College
Alvernia College is a regional Franciscan private college located in Reading, Pennsylvania. The College offers a variety of undergraduate majors in fields such as accounting, business, communication, computer information systems, criminal justice, education, marketing, nursing, psychology and more. Established in 1958, Alvernia started out as a small liberal arts institution but over the years has evolved into a recognized college of higher learning with over 5,000 alumni and two satellite campuses in Pennsylvania; one in Philadelphia and the other in Pottsville.

Alvernia College Admissions
Applications for admission may be obtained from the Office of Admissions or from the school’s website. Applicants should have an official copy of their high school record sent to the Office of Admissions, along with the official results of their SAT or ACT. A personal interview, while not required, is often desirable. All interested students and their families are invited to visit Alvernia for a tour of the campus and a personal interview with a member of the Admissions Office staff.
Alvernia College Faculty Quality
The faculty consists of 83 full-time and 190 part-time members, and is as widely diversified as the many fields of interest that its members represent. Instructors publish widely in professional journals and other media, present papers and moderate conferences, and serve on boards and committees of professional associations.
Alvernia College Student Body
Alvernia boasts a total enrollment of more than 2,800 men and women. Approximately 70% of the student body consists of undergraduates.
Alvernia College Student Life
Over 75% of the school's first-year students live on campus. Options for on-campus living include traditional residence halls, suite-style apartments, and townhouses. All residences have phone, cable TV, and high-speed Internet access. More than 500 Alvernia students are active in over 50 student groups, and numerous activities are scheduled throughout the year. The Reading campus is situated on peaceful, tree-lined grounds with modern campus buildings overlooking Angelica Lake. Downtown Reading, about 3 miles from the campus, offers a mix of cultural and entertainment venues.
