Amberton University is located in Garland, Texas. It is a private, non-profit university established in 1971 as an extended campus of Abilene Christian University. It was named Amber University in 1982 and received its present name in 2001. The university's Garland campus occupies an area of about 5 acres. Students are offered programs leading to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Science. Certificate programs are also offered.

Amberton University is meant for non-traditional or adult students, so it does not sponsor any athletic teams. It requires students to be fluent in English and be at least 21 years of age before enrolling.
