Arkansas Tech University was established as the Second District Agricultural School in 1909. The first classes were held here on October 26, 1910. It was named the Arkansas Polytechnic College in 1925 and adopted its current name on July 9, 1976. In addition to its main campus in Russellville, Arkansas, the university also has a small satellite campus in Ozark, Arkansas. ATU is organized into the following academic divisions:
ATU participates in NCAA Division II athletics. The university is a member of the Gulf South Conference. The men’s and women’s sports teams sponsored by ATU include football, baseball, volleyball, golf, tennis, softball, cross country and basketball.
Arkansas Tech is in Russellville, AR. Russellville is a self-contained town. The school is a public institution. Arkansas Tech issues awards (degrees) up to the level of Post-Master's certificate.
