Founded by John Wesley Hughes in 1890, Asbury College was originally known as the Kentucky Holiness College. It was later renamed in honor of the "Father of American Methodism", Bishop Francis Asbury. This private Christian liberal arts institute is located in Wilmore, Kentucky. Asbury College's recent enrollments have been more than 1,500 students representing over 40 states and 10 countries worldwide.
Asbury College offers more than 50 majors to choose from. Master’s degrees in education along with several certification programs are also available. Students can opt for courses in the fields of art, English, history, mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, music, business, and world languages, among others.
The athletics department of Asbury College sponsors teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, swimming and diving, and volleyball. Known as the Eagles, the teams compete in the NAIA and the NCCAA Division I.
