Austin's School of Spa Technology is a career school providing comprehensive training in the fields of cosmetology and spa techniques. Located in Albany, New York, Austin's first opened its doors in 1930 as the Austin School of Beauty Culture. The school was owned by the Austin family until 2005 when it was renamed the Austin School of Spa Technology upon its sale. Austin's offers programs in cosmetology, barbering, makeup artistry, nail technology, tattoo artistry and esthetics. All of the programs are delivered out of the same building, making Austin's the only school in Upstate New York to offer these programs from one location.
Austin's School of Spa Technology is nationally accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences, Inc. (NACCAS).
Instructors at Austin's School of Spa Technology are CHI certified educators. Each month, students have the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and techniques from guest artists. Austin's main objective is to train students to pass the New York State licensure exam. Instructors use a variety of teaching methods to compliment the different learning styles of their students.
Austin's School of Spa Technology is a commuter school and does not offer on-campus housing. The school uses a career-based educational approach, providing students with the skills and knowledge that they need to pass their licensing exam and gain employment in the workforce. Students at Austin's gain hands-on experience through the school's student spa, Mirror Images. Academic guidance and tutoring support is available for those who need it. Austin's also offers resume writing, interview preparation and lifetime job placement assistance. Financial aid is also available to those who qualify.
