Bethel College, located in McKenzie, Tennessee, was established in 1842 as Bethel Seminary. It operated under West Tennessee Synod of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was an outgrowth of the McLemoresville Academy. The State of Tennessee granted a charter to the college in 1847. The campus of the college covers 100 acres.
Bethel College offers undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees in a variety of programs. The students can choose from majors in subjects such as biology, history, physical education and business administration. There are six academic divisions:
The athletic teams of Bethel College, known as the Wildcats, compete in the TranSouth and Mid-South Conferences in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. They participate in basketball, tennis, cross country, tennis, volleyball and soccer.
Bethel can be found in McKenzie, TN (a town not particularly near any major cities). One of the defining characteristics of the school is its status as a Cumberland Presbyterian school. Bethel is a private, not-for-profit institution. The Master's degree is the highest degree at the school.
