Bowie State University is a public university located in Bowie, Maryland. It was established on January 9, 1865. The campus comprises more than 24 buildings, and is spread across an area of over 350 acres. BSU offers more than 20 undergraduate majors and 15 masters programs in diverse areas of study. BSU was the first university in the country to offer a bachelors degree in pedology. The university is organized into the following academic units:
Bowie State's athletes participate in the Eastern Division of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NCAA Division II. They are nicknamed the Bulldogs.
Bowie State is located in a large suburb, in Bowie, MD. The school is a public institution. Degree levels at Bowie State top out at the Post-Master's certificate.
Students at the school often study media, computer science and engineering, family and social work, and therapy and counseling.
The admissions department at Bowie State does not accept all those who apply. In 2007-2008, 15% of applicants were rejected at the school. Most students' verbal SAT scores were in the range of 447 to 800 in 2007-2008. A quarter of students admitted in 2007-2008 scored 800 or higher on the math SAT.
