Briarwood College, which is located in Southington, Connecticut, was founded in 1966 as the Briarwood Secretarial School. In 1979, it came to be known as Briarwood College. It has a 43 acre campus at the base of Mount Southington minutes away from Queen’s street. The campus is also close to the Lake Compounce amusement park.

Briarwood College offers associate's and bachelor's degrees, as well as certificates. It is known for its programs in mortuary science, occupational therapy assistance, dental hygiene and criminal justice. It offers more than 25 degree programs.

Briarwood College's athletic teams are known as the Wildcats. Campus organizations include Business Professionals of America (BPA), the International Association of Administrative Professional (IAAP) and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
