Overview
Brown College is a medium-sized vocational and technical school in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Its two campuses bracket and embrace the Twin Cities: the main campus in Mendota Heights is just across the lake from the airport; the other in Brooklyn Center sits about twenty-five miles to the north and northwest. Founded as a broadcasting school in the mid-1940s, it has diversified its curriculum and re-christened itself several times, most recently in 2001, when it changed its name from the Brown Institute. Despite its broadened, more contemporary focus, however, it continues to offer broadcasting courses and maintain its own radio station, the Voice of Brown College. Brown College and some 80 other institutions are owned by the Career Education Corporation.
