Brown Mackie College

Overview of Brown Mackie College

The Brown Mackie College system of schools traces its history back to 1892, with the founding of the Kansas Wesleyan School of Business. In 1938, under the ownership of Perry E. Brown and A.B. Mackie, the school became incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business. In subsequent years, this school and several others were consolidated as a system of schools under the parent company of American Education Centers (AEC). In 2003, AEC was acquired by Education Management Corporation of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The system of schools was renamed Brown Mackie College in 2004, and now includes campuses at 18 locations in the Midwest, Southeastern, and Southwestern United States. All Brown Mackie College campuses are accredited, either nationally by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) or regionally by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
