Butte College is an accredited two-year institution offering educational facilities in Chico and Orland. It was created as a local college in 1966, but unprecedented growth led Butte College to open its doors to the community in 1968. Spanning over 928 acres, the college has the largest campus in the state, and it is the only campus designated as a wildlife refuge. Butte College offers over 50 different education programs.

Butte College’s official colors are black and gold, and the sports teams are named the Roadrunners. The college has baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, softball, volleyball and track teams. The college alumni includes famous football players like Larry Allen, Jermaine Haley, Chad Folk, Paris Jackson, Junior Siavii and Aaron Rodgers.
