California State University, Sacramento, popularly called Sac State, is a public university with an enrollment of over 25,000 students. It was established in 1947, and offers over 60 undergraduate and 40 graduate degrees. These courses are taught in 8 colleges:
Sac State’s official colors are gold and green, and the mascot is the Hornet. Soccer, tennis, basketball, football, volleyball and golf are prominent among the university's athletic teams. Sac State alumni include top notch film personalities like Tom Hanks and Creed Bratton, Grammy award-winning musician Bobby McFerrin, and several other eminent authors, business tycoons, academicians and sports stars.
