Founded in 1849, Central Connecticut State University or CCSU is a state university in New Britain, Connecticut. It is the oldest public university and ranks third oldest of all universities in Connecticut. The Association of American Colleges & Universities selected CCSU as one of only 16 "Leadership Institutions" in the nation and the only one in Connecticut.
CCSU comprises five schools in different fields including Arts & Sciences, Business, Education & Professional Studies, Engineering & Technology, and Graduate Studies. CCSU enrolls over 6000 full-time and more than 5,000 part-time students. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs through the Master’s and sixth-year levels and the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.
CCSU also offers more than 15 NCAA Division I sports programs. The sports teams of the university are known as the Blue Devils.
