It was founded in the year 1995 with the merger of Brainerd Community College and Brainerd Staples Technical Colleges. The college has another campus located in Staples, Minnesota, United States. It is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. Students of Central Lake College are offered associate degrees and certificate programs.
