Founded in 1955, Cerritos College is a public comprehensive community college, located in Norwalk, California. The college was named after Rancho Los Cerritos, a ranch that served the region in the 19th century. The college also served as part of the inspiration for the renaming of the neighboring city of Dairy Valley to Cerritos.
Cerritos confers degrees and certificates in over 80 areas of study through nine divisions. The college also has a student-run radio station, WPMD. The mascot of Cerritos is the Falcon. The sports teams of Cerritos compete in the South Coast Conference. They participate in various sports including soccer, water polo, swimming, diving, wrestling, basketball, baseball, volleyball and tennis.
