Chapman University is a private, nonprofit university located in the city of Orange in Orange County, California. It was established as Hesperian College and opened on March 4, 1861. The university offers an array of degree programs in diverse areas of study. Chapman University is organized into the following academic units:

The university participates in the NCAA's Division III as an independent athletic program. The university's athletic program consists of over 15 intercollegiate teams and 3 club sports. CU's teams are nicknamed the Panthers.
