Overview of CHI Institute

CHI Institute is a career training school with two campuses located in the Greater Philadelphia Area. CHI's Broomall campus was originally established as RETS Electronic School in 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, before relocating to Pennsylvania in 1958 and then being purchased by the Institute in 1994. The Franklin Mills campus was founded in 1981. Today, CHI Institute is owned by Kaplan Higher Education Corporation. The school offers specialized career training in computer technology, criminal justice, professional trades, and health care. Some Associates degrees are also offered.

Areas of Study

CHI institute offers diploma programs and Associate degrees in professional fields and in various disciplines within the areas of information technology, legal studies, and health care. Professional offerings include an Electrician diploma program and also one in Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology. CHI also offers an Associate's Degrees in Criminal Justice and Network Engineering Technology, as well as a diploma program in Computer Networking. In the field of health care, the following programs are available:

CHI Institute Admissions

CHI Institute encourages prospective applicants to get in touch with a specially trained admissions representative, who will explain the school's admissions process in detail and help the applicant identify the program that best fits his/her career goals. The representative will also arrange for a personal campus tour and walk the applicant through the admissions process.

CHI Institute Faculty Quality

Classes are taught by experienced professionals with real-world experience who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise with their students. Student/faculty ratio is about 20 to 1.

CHI Institute Student Body

A preponderance of students is from the surrounding region and a large number are working adults. Enrollment at the Broomall campus is in excess of 1,000 students and at the Franklin Mills site the student body totals around 700.

CHI Institute Student Life

All of the Institute's students commute to and from classes, although CHI does offer housing assistance. The Broomall campus is located only 7 miles outside of Philadelphia. The Franklin Mills complex, situated 10 miles northeast of the city, is a renovated 50,000-square-foot facility comprised of two main buildings: an administration building and a student center.
