Harold Washington College, or HWC, is a 2-year community college founded in 1962. The college was later dedicated to the memory of the Chicago mayor Harold Washington, following his death in 1987. HWC offers associate degrees and certificates in arts and humanities, architecture, sciences, music and theater. Students can utilize transfer assistance facilities to local 4-year colleges and universities.
