Johns Hopkins University (JHU), a cornerstone of the Maryland community since its founding in 1876, operates the Computer Career Institute (CCI), an institution designed to prepare its students for careers in the healthcare, information technology, and digital media industries. Students holding a high school diploma or higher can begin the admissions process by selecting their program of study with the help of a Career Advisor. The applicant can then apply online to be considered for acceptance into the Institute. Applicants are encouraged to schedule an appointment to visit the Institute and receive a tour of the campus.

Both CCI-JHU locations are commuter campuses housed in state-of-the-art facilities containing over 13 classrooms and laboratories. Students have around-the-clock access to an online support system which provides them with practice modules to aid in their learning and also to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses. The Baltimore campus resides in a city already conducive to college life, with over 15 colleges located there. The small community of Columbia is a quiet place with few distractions yet near to a wide variety of entertainment venues. Both communities offer graduates many job opportunities in the area.
