Concord Law School

Overview of Concord Law School

Founded in 1998 with a student body of only 33 students, Concord Law School has since that time become a leader in the development of online law school programs. Although always a part of the Kaplan University family of schools, Concord in the fall of 2007 formally consolidated with Kaplan, making it the first online law school to be part of a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. The merger also made possible the development of joint degree programs with Kaplan University. Concord today offers a fully interactive online program of legal education geared to both those students seeking to practice law and those who desire an education in law but do not have direct career aspirations in the field.

Points of Distinction

  • Modular course construction
  • Continuous feedback
  • Tailored programs to fit student's needs

Areas of Study

Concord Law School offers fully online programs which allow students to access course materials, watch video lectures, conduct library research, take exams, check progress, and interact with instructors and fellow students completely online. Programs include the Juris Doctor Program and the Executive JDSM Program.

The Juris Doctor (JD) Program is designed for students seeking careers as practicing lawyers. The four-year part-time program, grounded in the core bar courses, satisfies the legal education requirement of the State Bar of California and graduates are eligible for admission to the State Bar.

The Executive JDSM (EJDSM) Program is targeted to individuals wanting the advantages of a legal education without the regulatory requirements of the bar exam. The three-year part-time program mirrors the JD program during the first year of study, but offers a great deal of flexibility in course selection afterwards. During the second and third years of the program, students are encouraged to construct a curriculum plan centered on their unique interests and career needs.
