Contra Costa College was established in 1950 in Richmond, California. The college has been located in San Pablo, California since 1957. CCC is administered by the Contra Costa Community College District and is a part of the California community colleges system.

CCC has a nationally honored newspaper called The Advocate. The newspaper is published on a weekly basis and has won 10 National Newspaper Pacemaker Awards since 1990.

CCC's athletic teams take part in Bay Valley Conference. They are called the Comets.
