Established in 1968, CUNY LaGuardia Community College is located in Long Island City in Queens, New York. It is named in honor of former New York City Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. Referred to as "The World's Community College," LaGuardia boasts of a diverse international student body representing more than 150 countries and speaking over 100 languages.

The college offers more than 30 degree programs, over 3 certificates, an Honors Program, and an Internship Program. The college also offers many fitness, recreation, and aquatics programs for the students.

The college has been recognized as a National Institution of Excellence and one of the "Top 3 Large Community Colleges in the U.S.," according to Community College Survey of Student Engagement in 2002.
