Dallas Baptist University was originally founded in 1898 as the Decatur Baptist College. At that time, the college was located in Decatur, Texas. It moved to its present location in Dallas, Texas, in 1965. It achieved senior-college status three years later. It was named Dallas Baptist University in 1985. It is a Christian liberal arts university that now offers enrollment to over 5,000 students. The campus of DBU sits on 292 acres of land.
DBU offers over 50 undergraduate majors, more than 20 graduate programs, and several doctoral programs in various areas of study. These courses are taught through the 8 colleges under DBU:
