Defiance College was established as the Defiance Female Seminary in 1850, and given its current name in 1903. This independent, coeducational liberal arts college is located on a 150-acre campus in Defiance, Ohio.

Defiance College offers a large number of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Courses are available in the areas of arts, history, criminal justice, business administration, education, sports management, and nursing, among others. The academic divisions of the college are:

The athletics department of Defiance College sponsors teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, softball, and volleyball. Nicknamed the Yellow Jackets, these teams compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division III.
