Areas of Study

There are several different program options available at the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts. All of the programs offered incorporate a large amount of hands-on practice and experience so that students get an accurate feel for how the industry is, and practice with the kinds of equipment they will be using in the field. Programs are designed to give the skills necessary to succeed in the industry, but also to give students the knowledge so that they can evaluate the needs of their clients on the fly with excellent problem solving. Some of the programs available are Professional Massage Therapy, Personal Fitness Training, and Maternity & Infant Massage.

The admission's process at Desert Institute of the Healing Arts requires that the applicant be 18 years of age when they apply. Applicant's should have a high school or equivalent diploma, and be physically and emotionally able to be able to perform the massage techniques available. Massage Therapy is not for everyone, and the admission's office will help students get aquatinted with what massage therapy is all about and see if it fits eat person who applies individually. All applications are considered equally, and it is suggested that all applicants take an introductory course on massage therapy before finalizing their decision.

The faculty at Desert Institute of the Healing Arts are all experienced massage therapy professionals, coming from a long history of massage therapy work themselves. Sometimes faculty and staff members continue their massage therapy practice or work while they teach, and are able to bring the most current and up-to-date practices into the classroom. Along with the student services department, faculty and staff provide their students with the tools necessary to succeed in the industry, with extra help, tutoring sessions, and group review after class available to all students.

There is no student housing available on campus, but there are plenty of places to live around the Tucson area, so many students choose to relocate and move close to the campus, even from other states around the country.
