East Central Technical College, also referred to as ECTC, was established in 1968 under the name of Ben Hill-Irwin Area Vocational Institute. In 1987, the name of the school was changed to Ben Hill-Irwin Technical Institute. It was again renamed East Central Technical Institute in 1996, and received its present name in the year 2000. The main campus of ECTC is in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Classes are also offered in the Coffee Campus in Douglas, and several other places in Pearson, and Rochelle.
East Central Technical College offers a number of associate’s degree, diploma, and technical certificate programs. Courses are available in the fields of business and marketing, computer information technology, commercial truck driving, health services, education, skilled trade, and telecommunications technology.
The students of ECTC are involved in various on-campus clubs and organizations such as the Student Government Association, and SkillsUSA. Besides, the college offers extensive financial aid not only through Federal Pell grants but also through Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Georgia Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Grant, and the Hope Grant.
