East Central University is a four-year public university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU was established in 1909 as the East Central State Normal School. After a few name and status changes, it was finally granted the status of a university in 1974. The university offers more than 65 academic majors, including over 10 teachers certifications. It also offers distance learning programs. ECU is organized into the following academic divisions:
ECU’s athletic teams are known as the Tigers. They compete in the NCAA Division II and are members of the Lone Star Conference.
