Founded in 1911, East Tennessee State University, ETSU, is an accredited American university, located in Johnson City, Tennessee. It is a part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system of colleges and universities. ETSU also has off-campus centers located in Kingsport, Bristol, Elizabethton, Greeneville and Tennessee. The University is listed by The Princeton Review (2007) as one of America’s ‘Best Value Colleges.’

The official mascots of ETSU are Pepper the Parrot & Bucky the Pirate. Their sports teams are nicknamed the Buccaneers.
